After her weight loss, she reveals a reality that is rarely discussed.

Losing weight is practically a trend. In this era of extreme thinness and visible bones, it's hard not to succumb to the diets gently prescribed by magazines or the "fat-burning" workout routines of 2.0 coaches. However, when the pounds melt away, the reflection in the mirror doesn't always resemble the ideal plastered across hashtags or advertisements. Content creator @nayaafitt reminds us that we shouldn't believe everything we see.

Losing a lot of weight: the effects are underestimated.

Under the spotlight and between the pixels, the trend is for a calorie deficit and a lean physique. Hollow cheeks, ribs visible beneath clothing, and minimalist curves that don't take up too much space in outfits… This is the new ideal to follow, the poster to keep glued to your mind. After the reign of Kim Kardashian's hourglass figure and the very brief "body positive" episode that gave hope to all underrepresented women, thinness is back with a vengeance and is once again establishing itself as a beauty standard.

It's a timeless aesthetic credo that never loses its appeal. Every year, the media and social networks preach diets, amplify fitness programs, and uncover the secrets of celebrities who have slimmed down in record time. While in Renaissance paintings, a woman's plumpness was a sign of good health, today, online, it's irrefutable proof of laziness, a lack of willpower. Slimming down has almost become a universal rule, a mantra. However, whether this weight loss is a conscious choice or imposed by societal pressure, it doesn't necessarily result in a slender, perfectly sculpted physique.

There's a reality that "before and after" photos don't show, and it's a little less marketable. Content creator @nayaafitt , who halved her weight and now fits her old t-shirts like a dream, offers an honest glimpse into this. She began this transformation not to conform to beauty standards but for personal comfort, and her body still bears the visible marks. Her figure, even if malleable, retains traces of her former self.

When one complex replaces another

Accused of being a mere product of AI due to the sheer scale of her transformation, Naya doesn't only share the "good sides" of this bodily odyssey. She doesn't hesitate to point the camera where advertisements and virtual content never venture. In total, she shed 70 kilos through weightlifting and sweat. She's as if she emerged from a chrysalis of flesh to reveal a new appearance. It's not an improved version of herself, simply another model—more mobile, more flexible, more resilient.

But when the accomplished athlete doesn't contract her body, her skin sags and jiggles with her movements. The fat that once supported her dermis has given way to a flabby, stretchy texture. Her skin resembles chewing gum and displays white streaks, more commonly known as cellulite .

Even though she works tirelessly at the gym, lifting weights and sweating profusely under the high-resistance machines, her body doesn't have the statuesque appearance of Barbie or that of a rock. All those little marks, which tell her story like an open book, aren't erasures. They are precious inscriptions that illustrate the entire journey she's undertaken, from her first entry into the gym to the last pound lost.

A reminder that thinness does not necessarily equal happiness

The pursuit of an ideal of beauty often comes with disappointment. While celebrities might lead us to believe that self-confidence lies in size 6 jeans or a plate calculated down to the gram, that's just theory. In practice, weight loss is much more difficult. Unless you have a supercharged metabolism, exceptional genetics, or resort to tricks bordering on illegality, the body doesn't shrink overnight.

In the mirror, the changes seem nonexistent. And when the contours of the figure become less defined through exercise and balanced meals, the eye is drawn to other details and always finds something to correct. No wonder, societal pressures have conditioned us to be perpetually dissatisfied and to become perfectionists of appearance. Naya, however, deserves credit for documenting all aspects of weight loss to prove that it's not an idyllic journey but a rediscovery of oneself.

In any case, weight loss should never be a declaration of war against oneself, nor a solution for loving oneself without clothes, but rather an act of self-compassion. And Naya reminds us that the body is not a lump of clay to be molded as we please, but a living entity.
