What is society in a nutshell? Well, society is everything that surrounds us . From stories and events to all the debates that shape our daily lives . We follow national and international social news, covering all topics that concern women and much more. Welcome to your "Society" section!
Women, ever stronger and more resourceful, are driving society forward.
Let's take a very simple example: the body positivity movement. For the past few years, women have decided to rebel against a society that constantly tries to mold them into a certain ideal . To do this, they decided to create a movement for the emancipation and acceptance of all bodies. They took over social media and ultimately succeeded in making a difference and changing attitudes . You are truly an inexhaustible source of inspiration and strength ...
In our society section, we pay tribute to the strength of women in the broadest sense of the term. We also frequently give them a voice and share the stories that have most impacted us . For example, the plus-size woman who has run no fewer than 10 marathons , the entrepreneur who created an app that helps obese people find restaurants where they feel perfectly comfortable, or the woman who speaks out against the beauty standards perpetuated by our society.
We also give space to all those who have decided to speak out . Take, for example, the Instagram account called "Bordel de mère" which denounces the mental load of motherhood, or the hashtag #PayeTaContraception which highlights the worst things said about it.
But because it's also important to take the drama out of things , we also aim to make you laugh and help you put the seriousness of life into perspective . For example, we give you a whole host of rock-solid excuses to justify your lateness , or we try to put the little hassles of daily life into perspective when you're a woman.
In short, as you've probably gathered, this section is all yours, girls . Don't hesitate to write to us, and also to participate in the many discussions available on our forum. We're counting on you! We analyze social issues in real time
As journalists, we are always on the lookout for current events and we can't say we get bored in the newsroom! It's exciting to see how society is evolving , coming up with ideas (sometimes completely outlandish), organizing events... It's alive! Quite simply.
If you follow our articles closely, you'll discover that we love sharing all the information we come across, from the most serious to the most unusual. For example, did you know that not taking a lunch break at work is equivalent to working 19 days for free ? Or that science has proven that women drive better than men ? Much to the chagrin of these gentlemen, it's the plain and simple truth !
Another interesting fact: our teenagers and young adults love it. Yet, reality TV tends to seriously lower the self-esteem of younger people . On the other hand, seeing the French women's national football team conquer the world has encouraged many young girls to assert themselves and no longer fear the judgment of others.
Nor do we hesitate to denounce cases that are truly scandalous . Take, for example, the Russian company that offered a "femininity bonus" to all its female employees who came to work in skirts and makeup. Or the doctor father and his wife who locked their daughter in a closet as soon as she dared to take 200 grams.
We also invite you to take part in all these movements that aim to improve our quality of life . Did you know, for example, that human beings would need to work less to save the planet? We have fun doing tests and quizzes!
Who hasn't ever taken five minutes to complete a short test or quiz to test their knowledge and/or learn a little more about themselves ?
Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, simply grab your smartphone and log on to The Body Optimist to access all our tests and quizzes. Don't forget, we also have a mobile app available for download on Android and Apple devices.
Through these famous quizzes and tests, you can have fun, but also perhaps learn a little more about yourself and/or the people around you!
For example: do you have a psychopathic personality (be warned, the answer might surprise you)? Did you know that everything about you can be found out based on your favorite color ?
You can also test your knowledge. For example, if you were to retook the baccalaureate exam today, would you have passed with flying colors? There's only one way to find out: take the test! And don't forget to post your results, of course, especially if you get honors!
We sometimes love it as much as we hate it, but it's essential to participate in the movements our society is initiating in order to find our place and feel comfortable within it . And let's be clear: EVERYONE has a place here! Regardless of their weight, color, height, religion, or passions! Let's love and respect one another; our society will only be more beautiful and pleasant .
